E-paper device assembly on a Viewlink Technology production line

OEM and ODM

E-paper devices built to your specification

Bring a specification, a brand or a drawing set. We quote design, samples, tooling and volume as separate lines, so you can see what each decision costs before production starts.

Three ways to work with us

Most projects start with one of these arrangements. The split matters because it decides who owns the design, the tooling and the compliance documents.

Full ODM

You bring the market and the brand. We take the device from specification to a tested, packed product under your logo.

  • ID and mechanical design
  • Panel, front light and touch selection
  • Firmware and reading software
  • Certification and retail packaging

OEM build

Your design, our line. We build to your drawings, BOM and test plan, and keep the records that show each unit was checked.

  • Build-to-print assembly
  • Incoming material inspection
  • End-of-line functional test
  • Batch traceability records

Design partner (IDH)

For teams that manufacture elsewhere but need the electronics and software that make an e-paper product work properly.

  • Mainboard and panel driver design
  • Waveform and refresh tuning
  • Software SDK and update path
  • Engineering handover package

What you can customize

Hardware, software and packaging are handled by one team, so a change to the panel does not have to wait for a separate supplier to re-qualify the firmware.

  • Screen size from 6 to 13.3 inches, Carta and Kaleido panels
  • Front light colour temperature and uniformity tuning
  • Capacitive touch and stylus input, including palm rejection
  • Android and RTOS platforms with your boot flow
  • Housing colour, texture, buttons and mould changes
  • Logo, boot screen and pre-installed applications
  • Retail box, manuals and accessory kits
  • Language packs and regional content setup

Typical numbers

Confirmed in writing after the scope review. Ranges shift with panel size, tooling and test requirements.

Pilot build
From 50 units
Volume order
Typically 500 units per model
Samples
10 to 15 working days after design freeze
Tooling
25 to 35 days for new moulds
Pilot lead time
4 to 6 weeks
Production batch
4 to 6 weeks after sample approval

How a project runs

Five stages, each with a gate. Nothing moves to the next stage until the previous one is signed off.

01

Scope and feasibility

About 1 week

We check panel availability, target BOM and the mechanical envelope before any number is quoted, so the quote reflects what can actually be built.

02

Quote and sample plan

2 to 3 working days

Tooling, material, test and certification costs are listed as separate lines. You see which decisions drive cost before committing.

03

Design freeze

2 to 4 weeks

ID, structure, electronics and firmware are locked against a checklist. Changes after this point are quoted as engineering changes.

04

Pilot build

4 to 6 weeks

A small batch is built on the production line, not in a lab, then tested with the same fixtures used for volume.

05

Volume production

4 to 6 weeks per batch

Each batch is inspected on incoming material, functionally tested unit by unit, and sampled for aging before packing.

Documents that ship with the goods

Compliance paperwork is part of the deliverable, not an extra. These are prepared alongside the build so customs and retail channels are not left waiting.

  • ISO 9001 quality management certificate
  • CE and FCC test reports for the finished device
  • RoHS and REACH material declarations
  • UN38.3 transport reports for battery packs
  • Batch test records and end-of-line inspection data

Questions buyers usually ask

Can you work from our existing design or BOM?+

Yes. If you already have drawings and a BOM, we quote an OEM build and review the design for parts that are hard to source or likely to fail testing. Findings are reported before the first build, not after.

Do you supply samples before a volume order?+

Yes. A functional sample is built after design freeze, usually in 10 to 15 working days. Samples are charged at unit cost plus tooling where a new mould is needed.

Which parts of the software can we control?+

On Android builds you can keep your own application layer and app store. We handle the driver, panel timing and power management underneath. On RTOS builds we deliver a firmware image with the update path agreed in advance.

How do you handle quality problems after shipping?+

Every batch keeps its test records, so a failure can be traced to a build date and fixture result. Confirmed defects are replaced under the warranty terms agreed in the contract, and the cause is fixed before the next batch.

Can you ship to our warehouse or a fulfilment partner?+

Yes. We ship to your address or a nominated forwarder, with export documents and battery transport paperwork prepared for the destination country.

Send the specification you have

A size, a use case or a drawing set is enough to start. We reply with the questions that decide feasibility and cost.
